If a team/player finishes early, you have to wait until sand empties.- 100 tiles is too few. I've been a fan of Scrabble and its many online clones and derivations for a long time. We shared many laughs over the unintentionally adult-themed board that resulted on our first game. The Lazy Susan design and raised grid are great innovations. They are depressed, so a very skilled player can learn to feel the letters if he/she wanted to.To be truly a deluxe edition, though, there are still a number of improvements that could be made:- a digital timer instead of a cheap plastic hourglass. You have to flip the tile over to see what's under it.For $40-50, this is a good buy and worth having as a party game. Now you can spin the board around easily so no one has to crane his or her neck to see the words.
I know it'd be heretical to ask for a 150-tiled version though.- lack of the The Official Scrabble Players Dictionary. I had the chance to try out this Deluxe Edition over the weekend with friends and had a blast, playing late into the night. We played in 4 teams (2 players each) and within a few rounds, we had run out of letters because we were clearing 3-5 tiles per turn. The grid keeps all the tiles in place so they don't slide out of position when the board is rotated. The wood tiles are nice. I tried feeling them inside the bag to see if I could determine what letter was written on them, but I couldn't. We had to use our cellphones instead for questionably short words, like "fa", to see if they were allowed.- Hard to see the score bonus of squares.
Paying more than that would be obscene (11 points).
this product is exteremely pricey i expected the premiere edition for this price instead i got a plastic turntable and a product probably worth $40-50.00 save your money. i could not enjoy the game because it is so overpriced.
Game in excellent condition. Delivery prompt ahead of schedule. Will order again.Blessings,j
This Scrabble set is definitely not worth the $145 I paid for it. The only good thing I can say about it is that Amazon was gracious enough to send me a pre-paid return label, accept my return and fully refund my money. It is not.
If you're thinking of buying it: DON'T. And, to add to the cheap quality, I had to put parts of the set together. As as matter of fact, it is not worth any amount of money.
It is made of cheap, thin, breakable plastic, with flimsy plastic tile racks, and a very cheap looking board. I play Scrabble on a regular basis and wanted a durable, "deluxe" set with a turntable to add to my collection of Scrabble sets. When I saw this on Amazon and read the manufacturer's description (which turned out to be very misleading), I though it be would be professional quality.
For this kind of money, I should not have had to twist in the rubber "legs" or stick the decal letter counters onto the racks, nor should I have had to suffer the embarassment of having the tiles slip off the board every time it was turned on its pedestal -- thus ruining the first and last game played using this set. It's a shame that Hasbro has stooped so low as to to producing and selling at an exhorbitant price a cheaply-made version of one the most enjoyable, educational, and popular board games ever played.
I was disappointed in that my granddaughter's version is unlike mine. The board is totally colorless unlike mine where there is a color code to each double or triple letter or word score. Also, I was led to believe that when I used my newly opened Amazon credit card I would receive a $30 refund, which I have not received. Please respond.
